Xenonaughts - Earthly Assault

Post by Suisfonia »

This is the OOC thread for the RP story.

This story takes place in a slightly more modern time compared to the current setting of Xenonaughts (more comparable to the sequel, or what we know of it) while also mixing in elements from various mods (Such as X-Division). It takes place in the year of 2018, following a strange world wide blackout on communications, cellphones don't work, even telephones don't; but certain methods of communications do - except the Internet.

The X-com project, also known as Xeno Command, was created in the 1950's, it is activated following a blackout under suspicions that it isn't normal. Soldiers whom were chosen for the project, due to their diverse backgrounds, talents, and experiences; all of which are trained in both ground and air combat, are activated. Strange lights in the sky above a number of cities, and odd reports from pilots, make people wonder if something more ominous is going on, but the governments silence and even willingness to completely deny what people see with their own eyes only fuels speculation, paranoia, and suspicion.

= Characters

Players can make characters from any number of nations, but they all either live, or were visiting Tachakis Georgia, when activated. These characters all have a cellphone on them that is strangely not affected by the communications blackout, which is used to tell them when they are needed but - upon activation - is also used to track the locations of other soldiers (provided GPS satellites still work)

At the start, players may only use weaponry which existed in 2018 or below. Beyond that, players have to discover new weaponry either dropped by the enemy or it being research. This same thing applies to vehicles, such as tanks and APC's. Aircraft are different, only the A-10C Thunderbolt 2, the F22A Raptor, F35 Lighting 2, SU-34 and can outfit them for their assigned missions. Players have the ability to call in support from unmanned drones (so long they remain in the inventory) and even designate targets.... just not themselves.

Equipment wise, players are free to decide what they want to bring to the battlefield, but what they bring can make a difference between winning a battle or having to retreat completely and thus failing the mission.

When it comes to the age of the characters, characters can be as young as 15 or as old at 40. As this takes place in the US, it is not uncommon for the young to know how to fight, or even be precocious enough to be chosen for a top secret project. This also means that it is rather likely that a character - or two - might have a bloody arsenal in their house! :P
