We had our first community meeting today. Overarching discussion:

If you create or purchase anything on or for the setting, it belongs to you. It is yours, unless you have stated that you are giving it to a person or the website. You may do with it as you wish off the setting. We just ask that if you create your novel, comic, etc that you link us! We want to help support you! As a courtesy, if you are using elements from other people's content, you should ask permission to use it before starting out. Most people do this already but it is polite to say, "Can I use your faction/character/gun in my story/art/song/poem/sculpture?"

Community expectations:
We are a group of friends but we are trying to encourage a community mindset by only having people a part of the Discord server that are actively contributing to the community in some way be it by creating content, roleplaying, doing art, world building, etc. We are a collective of people using the setting of Shattered Universe as a launching point for our creativity. You can be a part of our community and any other community. You are free to be creative any where you wish, we just ask that if you are here, that you are contributing to this community in some way.

Community rules.
All members of the community will be 18+ and will be vetted by a staff member before their account will be authorized.
Everyone is deserving of respect. Treat others with dignity and respect.
If you are referencing content that is not created by you, provide the link to the source content.
Any artwork or media that is created by someone other than yourself needs to be credited.
Being banned from the community for being underage- the ban will remain in place until the user turns 18.
If you are banned from the community for any other reason, the case can be reviewed by the staff and it can be overturned by unanimous staff vote.

Handling of explicit content.
We are striving to be taken seriously as a roleplaying community, in such, some credibility is lost when people see pornography. While we are an 18+ community, we want to keep the forums open so that in the future when we submit plots for simming prizes, the judges will have access to the full forums. In such, anything sexually explicit will be placed into an invisible forum that registered members will need to request access to. This way no one is seeing content that they don't want to see and we are protecting content from being accessed by those that are possibly underage and accidentally stumbling across our forums.

Content non-grata.
Certain content and behavior is not encouraged or permitted on the website/Discord. We will not tolerate player harassment, threats of violence/doxxing, nor blatant racism.

No one will be forced into ERP, and reports of such behavior will be evaluated by the staff and taken seriously.

All members of the website will be over 18 years of age. If we find that someone has lied to us about their age, they will be banned. Reports of ERP with underage persons will be taken seriously and investigated by the staff.

Graphic depictions of sexual abuse, torture, rape, bestiality and pedophilia are not welcome on our community. These are awful things and we want to de-glamorize them.

Creation of the setting.
We are still making everything and fleshing out the setting. Much of what we are creating are setting elements rather than things that are necessarily faction exclusive. When in doubt, please ask, let's have a discussion!

Magic in a sci-fi setting.
Yes, It's a thing. This is a conversation between you and a GM. There should be a set of rules in place, limits, amount of magic use, dangers, etc. We can discuss magic systems in the Discord.

Removal of a submission/approval system.
If you want to create it, create it. Talk to the community for input and talk to your GM to see how it'll work in your story.

Moving forward with the new setting.
We have some translation notes for porting over old plots and characters. Ask and we'll help convert everything over! Earth exists in this setting. We are on the other side of the milky way, so you ethnic identity stuff is the same. Old pop culture references can be a thing. Any Earth languages are a thing. There's more to this but please tap a staff for help.

De-factioning the setting.
All factions, and organizations are listed on the wiki Alphabetically. No particular faction is more important than another. Factions like the Tai Pan are meant to be setting elements with some playable characters. The In Character roleplay forums are listed Alphabetically for this reason as well. Everyone is deserving of equal attention and recognition.

Plot/Faction/Player of the month:
Each month we will nominate factions/plots that need more help with promotion or that the community wants to highlight. We were also considering having the community nominate members they feel need special recognition for the work that they've been doing for the community.

Donation accountability/use of funds.
We now have a Business eschrow account for site donations. We will have a monthly treasury report and state what funds are used for. We are looking to pay for all of the site expenses and then pay for things like artwork and advertising. There is an art request thread for everyone that wants to, to request artwork. If you donate, you are guaranteed artwork at some point, we will do our best to share the wealth. If you are bought artwork- it is yours. We will be trying to avoid buying artwork in uniforms (unless you request it) so that you may use the image off site and setting if you wish.

Creation of a Fight Box in Discord.
The purpose of the fight box is to allow people to air their grievances against one another to vent. No threats. Argue freely but tag a moderator to mediate to keep it from getting crazy. What is said in the Box stays in the box and will not be used against you. Both parties have to agree to going to the box. If it's not worth going into the box for, then the argument should drop.
