New Origins/Variants

Post by Jimmy » Mon Oct 14, 2019 3:23 am

So I finally got around to writing these out. This is mostly a first pass and I may move a couple of these onto new pages if I can find them, but this will do for a first pass.

https://shattered-universe.com/doku.php ... o_colonies

Added Alaire and Sheffeldans as possible origins under the Wangdaio Colonies section, I will review the contents but this is a first pass. Need human people to critque it.

https://shattered-universe.com/doku.php ... cies:bu_qi

Added a Variants heading at the bottom of the page with a Pygmy section, this may get moved to Character Creation Guide if I manage to fool someone into playing a Bu Qi.

https://shattered-universe.com/doku.php ... s:taianese

I've added a Variants heading at the bottom with Shibai along with a brief description and a link to the most likely system to find them in. I will need get this checked by taianese folks, and the original makers of the Alaire system.

So yeah, that's the first go. I'll update this thread as I improve them.

Should have commented a lot sooner, sorry! This was discussed over discord, and the idea definitely has the green light. It'll add some much appreciated diversity to our content and also acknowledge stuff that may have or can happen in RP.

I'm currently working on a variant of Atraxian with tougher green skin caused by a parasitic fungus. Would a variant heading at the bottom of the Atraxian page be enough for that?

I believe it would entirely depend on how many differences there are from the base version. If a variant heading and a paragraph or so is enough to convey the changes, then that's fine. However, I suspect the changes you're after are going to be big enough that it'll take a bit more than that. In this case, a summary at the header with a link to a separate article might be be a better option. This is up to your discretion though.
