Episode One: Continuing Mission

Post by Gunsight1 »

Station Log, January 18, 3020 . . . . It has been just over a year now since I assumed command of Port Endeavour and the station went into commission. The great experiment in cooperative operation in a trading post between the Alliance and the Dominion of Ersetu. I am happy to say that the while we had a slightly rocky start in the early months, things have gone well. Alliance and Dominion crews have worked well together, my XO, First Lieutenant Kinnon is a capable and skilled officer. The break down of communication and cooperation between personnel from two so drastically difference services that some back home had guaranteed as certain has not happened. Sure there are the odd disagreement and difference in ways of doing things, but all in all I'm happy with how the station's crew has performed and look forward to the continuing cooperation between our peoples.

This week sees the first major personnel changes since we went active, several members of my command staff and high level department officers have rotated out and new people are coming in. I look forward to meeting them as they arrive at our little home away from home.

-Commander Natsumi Yamashiro, Commanding Officer, Port Endeavour.

Natsumi saved her official log entry for the day and closed down her terminal, reclining back in her desk chair, her red eyes slowly taking in the deep red-brown wood paneled and brass trimmed walls of her office. Sometimes, even after a year, she was still not accustomed to the way Port Endeavour was decorated. The space station was built by the Kishargal, an old... very old station on indefinite loan to the Alliance. The station was jointly operated by the Alliance and the Dominion, located as the western most anchor of the trade lane between their two governments. In comparison to Alliance station and spacecraft interiors, it was opulent, fancy. In addition to the wood and brass, there were elaborate cut glass wall sconces and other various permanent decorations. The furniture too was a strange combination of chairs and tables supplied by the Alliance and several larger chairs original to the station scaled appropriately for the much larger Kishargal people. There were still times when Natsumi looked at the large seating and felt a little like she was in a doll house.

Getting to her feet, she glanced out the windows behind her desk, at the vista of stars and the twinkling of ships traveling to and from the station. She smiled at the calm serenity of the scene beyond, till her desktop comm chirped for her attention. Turning back to it, she pressed the accept button.

"Yamashiro" she called into the pickup.

"Captain, the starliner Asimov has docked at port seventeen" came the voice of Lieutenant jg Ise, who one of the junior officer manning space traffic control this shift. The SS Asimov, a civilian passenger ship, was transporting several of her new senior officers and she wanted to be there to greet them when they came aboard

"Than you, Lieutenant" she said and closed the channel. Stretching, she grabbed her officer jacket, slipping it, then her cap, which she set on her head as she exited her office and crossed into the operations center. "I'm off to arrivals to greet our new crew" she announced to the officer of the watch and indicated that any senior officers who wished to come along could. Then she was off to the anteroom and one of the awaiting lifts.

OOC: Tag everyone. Anyone with a character thats still here from the previous run, feel free to join Natsumi in the lift, everyone thats just joining with a new character feel free to be arriving aboard the Asimov, or another means if you feel like. For reference, the Asimov is a civilian staliner version of the Alliance Constellation class frigate. As of this post, Port Endeavour is back up and running. I will have the Concourse open rp section up either later tonight or within the next day or so.

Folks were arriving at the lift of Asimov mainly the newcomers that were new crew members that awaited for the captain to give them their warm welcome. One of these many ladies and gentlemen was Omar that was dressed in his Chief Tactical Officer uniform and was carrying one large duffel bag that he decides to place down next to his feet since it was lowering his endurance, he seemed to have a bright neutral expression on his face as he looked around at the new crew members he was going to work with.

"Why didn't you tell me me had a meeting today," Dakura groaned as she she tried to make herself presentable, "Or at least get me up earlier."

"We tried to tell you, we always TRY but you are quite larger than us."

"And maybe getting larger!"

San and Ichi said respectively to the blonde half elf as they floated around helping her with her uniform as well as general appearance.

"Your observations are noted." Dakura replied rubbing the bridge of her nose, trying to sooth the mental anguish of both a killer hangover and a pair of miniature assistant androids, "We left Potato at the apartment right?"

"Yes, and we unplugged the microwave this time. No more Spanish resets for the time being" San, the blue haired mini android said, producing a holographic data pad and glasses, adjust the later on her nose with a finger, "I do have the tentative schedule today, if you want a quick briefing over it before you get to your station? We apparently have a ship docking soon. The Asimov if charters are right"

"But Potato en español was muy bien!" Ichi, the red haired mini android chimed in as she gave a quick polish to one of Dakura's buttons, "It was funny when she destroyed that bottle too."

"It was not funny Ichi, It was expensive and I was saving that for a special occasion!" Dakura said flicking the android across the elevator where she cartoonishly hit the wall with a 'thud'.

"So like Thursday then?" San said with a shake of her head.

"Whats Thursday?" Dakura replied with a slight look of confusion and concern like she forgot something.

"Oh nothing, it's just Thursday and seeing as you call it quaintly 'Thirsty Thursday' I think you would consider that a 'special occasion'" . The small android gave air quotes as she spoke with a free hand as she read over the small holographic tablet in front of her, "Either way I think we're about at our floor so lets try not to make an idiot of ourselves in front of the new people today shall we?"

Dakura stared daggers at the pompous mini android that she had built, the second one floating into frame next to her rubbing the back of its little head. "I have no idea why I made you two some days." She finally said with a shake of her own head, before rubbing her brow "Just find me a big glass of water and an aspirin or six as soon as you can. I have a feeling its gonna be a long day with you two."

Hunter would arrive with the various other crew members wearing his security uniform with the alliance vest over top of that. "Now I got to just remember were the security check in station is." He said to himself as his boots echoed down the halls waiting with the others worried on how others would react to how he looks. His red optical lenses scanned the crowd out of force of habit before spotting the tactical officer Omar. Hunter would make his way over to introduce himself "hello sir, its a honor to be working with you." he spoke in his synthetic gravelly voice while extending a hand to shake.

Aboard the Asrid

"Shit shit shit..." Yoshi cried out as she moved though her ship with her young protege in tow. "I was supposed to be off the ship and meeting the Commander right now..." She pulled on her uniform, while not the one she should be in, that one was still being ordered, but her old Alliance uniform from before she retired.

"You wouldn't be so late if you didn't make me celebrate with you last night and then attempted to drink the bar dry." Brie responded as she followed carrying her captain's pants. "Ma'am... you are forgetting something."

"No I am not! I have my orders in my bag along with my new shiny badge of office." She motioned to the satchel that was hanging by the ship's loading ramp hatch.

"No... Look down..." Brie sighed tapping her foot and wondering if Yoshi will be fired and they could go back to hauling random cargos.

"What do you mean?" She looked down past her uniform jacket to the boots on her feet, but that was when she realized her bare middle. "Give me those..." Yoshi growled and swiped the pants and started hopping around the cargo bay trying to put them on with her boots still on. "Daaaamn iiiiittt" she cried out as she fell over as she finally pulled them up. "just how I wanted to start my return to service."

"But you told me last night you aren't really back in the military, you are a Marshal." Brie responded as she grabbed the satchel before helping Yoshi up. "Anyways here is your bag, go, I'll bring you lunch..."

Yoshi blushed and thanked Brie before taking the bag, she really didn't deserve to have Brie around. "I'll let you know when I'll be able to take a break."

Racing down the ramp in her slightly tight uniform she made it to the lift to take her over to the area the civy passenger ships would dock. She arrived just a minute before the Commander. With a sigh she made sure her hair was still tightly braided and not a mess. She felt as hung over as she should, but she didn't understand when she got old enough to feel this bad.

A Very Normal Nearly Eight Foot Tall Biodroid With Unknown Biotech Stuck In His Body, Nothing To See Here Folks

Post by Mortuary Insurgency »

Centiboros dwarfed nearly the majority of the passengers of the Asimov and it became a little troublesome as the docking procedure began. It wasn't helped by his impatience; he paced about rapidly with the blue and white of his alliance science division uniform fluttering about. It was elegant and cape-like almost, mostly due to its great size tailored for his 7''6 height but when combined with the cold and almost insectoid features that defined his sharply cut face, lengthy arms that ended in multiple opposing fingers, and a number of swiveling eyes most people were very happy to get out of his way before they saw he was staff.

Truth be told, he would have been more fitting for security and a background in violence gave him all the qualifications he needed. Being the living extension of the threat of physical action wasn't his reason for being here but something more concerning, not about the mission but his own body.

Like an eel through reeds the tall machine-lifeform moved quickly through the slow swell of the crowds, slipping between eager new staff members faster than they could blink or react. He'd already memorized the location of the labs and the fastest way to get there and even before the P.A. system had begun its cheery synthetic greeting, he had made his move, disappearing downstairs after passing the reception area and moving quickly towards the labs.

Port Endeavor - Quarters

Eilidh was glad that she had arrived on a Dominion sized vessel compared to the Asimov. The Surgeon had arrived a day earlier and had barely settled in. She knew another majority of the ship's senior staff had embarked on the Asimov. She dressed herself in some of her more finer clothing and dolled up herself up to look more presentable than she usually was but far more simple than she was when she was in her eldest brother's court. Goddess bless her she hoped no one would figure out she was a Lady of the Courts. Thankfully enough, most humans did not know of the Kishargal clans, and the Ersetu she did treat she was adamant on being called 'Miss Surgeon' or simply 'Surgeon.'

She sighed to herself as she left and locked her quarters, "Tis inevitable, but better later than now." She relaxed her shoulders and proceeded to the concourse docking rings where the station's computer read where the Asimov was docking. She assumed she'd meet the station commander there too as she had neglected to do so before. She found herself hurrying through the halls like a giddy teenager.

Docks

When she arrived, she simply walked towards the crowd, eventually intermixing with it and looking around at the different beings that had disembarked. A chill went down her spine as the giant creature that was her height scurried off. She had no idea what kind of species that was and she hoped the station's computer had a dossier on it. Surgery would be nigh impossible on it if she had no idea what it had inside of it. Thankfully, the rest of the station's inhabitants where humanoid in biology, and both Kishargal and Human biology she knew quite well.

She turned towards the lifts as the doors opened and tried to make out the figures that emerged from it. "Oh, I hope I don't screw this up."

In the Lift.

A tall, young dark brown skinned Kirshigal woman joined the queue beside the human Alliance officer. Trooper Loch's green paneled Ersetsu Dragoon uniform jacket was immaculately pressed and her perfume was a delicate, clean scent of jasmine. Her curly fuchsia hair was neatly trimmed to her chin and her bright, wide, cyan eyes glowed happily. Her tail swished idly behind her as she waited for the lift. She smiled brightly and nodded at Natsumi, recognizing the officer from the station leadership briefing. "Good mornin', ma'am! How are you this blessed mornin'?" She adjusted her shako under her right arm.

Docks, military sector

An alliance military transport pulled into the docks of Port Endeavor, disgorging, amongst other things, a bulk freight container labeled spare parts, and a young man. The container was quickly spirited away to station's fighter bays. The young man, Alex, on the other hand, was directed towards where Asimov had docked, and was instructed to report in to the station's CO. He reflected briefly on the events that had brought him to this point.

He and Lily had been trying to escape the territory of the League of Autonomous Worlds, but unfortunately his companion had been left behind. He recalled, while he had initially planned to work on his project, and complete it before going back to find her, the Alliance had been less than enthusiastic to allow such hardware to remain in civilian hands. As he approached the Asimov, he took a moment to admire the alien architecture before straightening his cap, and then made his way towards where other people appeared to be congregating. Hopefully, this would go well.

@Lone_badass Omar was keeping his composure for the most part he was a tactical officer after all and his dork farmer boy status days were long gone since then. When the cyborg approached him with a greeting and extended handshake he nods in response with an extended handshake to the gentleman "Pleasure to be working with you too, Omar is the name and you're self?" he asks in a polite tone, figured he'd start learning the names of these new people along with the current staff on board.

While shaking Omars hand Hunter responded kindly with. "My names is Hunter model 003-M.A.R.S, or Hunter for short." retracting his hand before continuing. "I was created by global robotics and recently joined the alliance along with the others from the pandora guard who are now located on Eden. I thought I would try to help by joining the port."

@Lone_badass Omar pulled back his hand afterwards and had both of his hands rested behind his back "Well its an honor having you aboard then Hunter, more the merrier as they say right?." he snickered a little bit before tipping his hat a little to him, a smooth start of bonding with his new crew members he'll get to work with.

Operations

"Good morning" Natsumi replied to Loch with a smile and a incline of her head, her snowy white locks falling about her red eyes. "I am having a wonderful morning, thank you" she said and smiled at the much taller soldier that was part of the stations security staff. "I hope yours is as well" she said as the lift car arrived with a hum and the large curved doors hissed open.

The lift was sized for the kishargal people, who averaged upwards of ten feet in height, so the space was massive and cavernous compared to a lift car on a human built station. Everything about Port Endeavour was bigger and it still was something Natsumi was not used too yet.

"After you" she said and waved for Loch to enter the lift first.

Docking bay 17

The observation gallery for docking bay 17 allowed a sweeping vista of Port Endeavour's internal starship dock, the massive space that took up the bulk of the interior space in the stations upper spherical hull. The sleek white form of the SS Asimov filled the observation windows, blotting out much of the view for now as she lay docked with the station. Multiple connections stretched between the passenger ship ant the station; tunnels, external umbilical feeds and several hard dock grappling arms that held the ship stationary along with the pale blue glowing shafts of light that were the mooring tractor beams while it was in port.

A lot of people were disembarking from the Asimov along with the new officers, other enlisted personnel, who were already been routed off to their assigned orientation areas, along with multitudes of civilians coming to visit or conduct business of their own.

A few of the stations new officers and one civilian specialist were all waiting in a loose group when one of the lift doors slid open across the way, allowing it's two passengers to exit, a white haired human woman in an Alliance Navy command uniform and cap and a much taller kishargal in the uniform of a Royal Army Dragoon.

Natsumi spotted the loose collection of new people. She already knew who was coming, she had received their files ahead of time, including the civilian specialist and his cargo. She started towards them, noting her operations officer, Dakura and her little androids, were on scene too. She nodded, smiling at the Lieutenant.

She'd had to leave most of the command staff at Operations, it was a busy morning and someone needed to mind the shop.

"Good morning" she said as she drew up to the newcomers. "I'm Commander Natsumi Yamashiro" she introduced herself.

When Yamashiro introduced herself, Yoshi had to fight the urge to salute. She wasn't technically in the military anymore. instead she smiled to the Commander and stood there with her right hand an her hip, inches away from her new pistol she had bought to give herself something to carry. Still feeling the hangover and the tightness of her old uniform, made her feel like she was back in boot.

Omar was with his new crew members along with the other humanoid being Hunter though he was the only one he shook hands with so far. He notices his new captain Yamashiro introducing herself to the crew and he was quick enough to take salute "Good Morning captain." he nodded and placed his hand down after the salute.

Dakura Dakura had somehow managed to keep her composure, as well as her sunny disposition, as she navigated her way from the elevator to the designated meeting aera. She never really would get used to feeling a like a doll in a dollhouse with the much larger space station around her, but like a good member of the alliance military she would put her blinders on and mission first to get to the end of the day.

Seeing Natsumi, Dakura returned the smile and nod before making he way over towards the rest of the staff.Meanwhile Ichi and San were busy floating and chittering about giving her live feeds of the current station status but nothing more important that that.

Finding the pristine white counters quiet and empty, the warmachine slipped into the chamber silently and began immediately scanning any piece of equipment with his night vision goggle like arrangement of eyes. Capabilities were analysed; cutting, scanning, heating, piercing - he wasn't going to be here for a simple check-up. The feeling of slithering alien flesh against his synthetic organs made it clear.

Of course, it wouldn't be appropriate to begin the testing now. Nor would it be safe.

He was sure the rest of the crew was busy going over the usual niceties but how much he struggled to care. No other facility he knew of within his grasp had these kinds of facilities and truthfully, to continue to use them he'd need to main some kind of at least respectable rapport with the rest of the crew.

More importantly, he'd need to know who he was working with.

It wasn't long before the semi-serpentine entity was seen going back the way he came, somehow passing through crowds with his ghost-like dexterity in spite of his looming presence. He slowed howevr as he approached the meeting space, simply standing in the back his head mantis-like as it scanned over every single head in the room, reading biodata absent-mindedly as he listened and waited.

As Commander Yamashiro drew near, Alex saluted, instincts from his brief but formative stint as a mercenary with the Black Forge taking hold. He held the salute for a respectful amount of time before dropping his hand and standing at relative ease. He noticed the looming monstrosity, and did his best to ignore it. While the Kishargal were not too alien for his Resevoir sensibilities, the almost centipede like creature was simply too much. In an attempt to distract himself, he found himself moving towards the front of the crowd, away from the creature closer to the shorter white-haired commander.

Eilidh, towering over most of the newcomers for the exception of the alien that had reemerged from beyond her view, gave a warm smile before giving a slight nod of the head and a weak salute common to some of the Sick and Hurt Board. She wasn't a sailor or soldier, and that was even evident in her dress. She was wearing civilian clothes though of a vastly higher quality than some would see as upper class. Her glowing eyes met the station commander's with an unintended stare. Her expression showed she meant no harm.

In fact, her mind was still racing at breakneck speeds. Her blunted tail was restless, and every few moments would swish idly from one side to the other. The station's Surgeon quietly awaited the Alliance commander's words with a polite stance.
