Recovery Ward, Hospital on Endeavour station.
~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
Laying in bed, she grunting from the pain in her arm and leg. Or really the pain from the missing sections. The Doctors and Yoshi had explained to Brianna Scott what had happened with the hyperdrive, and how it had costed her literally an arm and a leg. A horse chuckle came from her at the thought. It had been a fog cloud of pain, pain killers, surgeries, and moments of being conscious for short periods of time. Yoshi had been there for a few times of her being awake but Brianna wasn't sure which times her captain was there for, nor the kisses on the forehead from her long time crush. More then that she was worried she might have said something to Yoshi about it.
Dreams always had funny ways that caused them to be influenced by various things. Traumatic experiences or just day to day life. Although, other things could always come form it. Fevers also affected it. It affected the mind even in the waking world. She wouldn't have heard anyone walk into the room but she would soon end up greeted by something.
"Good evening, Lass!" A strangely familiar voice with a static accent to it sounded off. "You certainly went through a danger zone! But tell ya what, no need to sit there and mop, it's time for some enjoyment! Positive thoughts, am I right?!!"
The voice held a great deal of energy and if Brianna looked, she'd see a rather tall and lanky man standing at the edge of the bed. A big yet friendly smile was on his face and he even waved to her. Their short pale blonde hair was mostly flat save for two strands at the top of his head and at the sides of his head were two round almost balls of hair. He wore a chocolate brown suit jacket that had tree buttons, light brown pants, and at his neck emerging from underneath the jacket. Was a dusty brown grey high collar that seemed to reach all the way up his neck and to his lower jawline. A gold brooch of sorts was located at the center of that along with a black button. Something was sticking out of the left side of his neck but it was hidden fast as he tilted his head.
The more striking thing about them? Was the eyes. Their left eye was grey but the right...the iris was red and the whites of it was a much darker red. He was a strange looking man. Yet they held so much familiarity in a odd strange way. He was rather tall, he looked like he was sort of bending himself forward to try and not look more imposing perhaps? However a hand was soon extended to her.
"Tickets please?" He asked.
As her gaze drifted toward the sound of the voice, Brianna was sure she remembered the owner of the voice, though as far as she could draw upon in her memories would say it could have been from a video advertisement. Though once her drug glazed eyes fell on the strange man she sorta remembered a far off time when she was still a young boy and her family had taken her to an amusement park.
"I..." She voice slowly worked out the words to him, "I... I don't have... any tickets..." She got out as she shifted a bit more trying to use her good arm and one remaining leg to get her into an angle to see this strange being better. Her blankets fell from her leaving her from the waist up in nothing but a hospital gown. It betrayed her more male features or really the lack of feminine features. Once she was shifted, she tried to use her missing arm to brush her hair from her eyes, of coarse this failed.
The stranger stayed put, he was a rather tall man even at his bent height. He stood at seven ft three, still with his hand extended, and that kind smile upon his face.
"Everyone has a ticket at Tesla's Wondertorium!" The man responded as he stood up to his full height. "A wonderful park for you and your kids of all ages!"
Brianna would notice that his shoulders looked rounded. Rounded shoulder pads? Perhaps. However the weirder thing that would happen was catching something in the corner of her eye as the man pointed to the bedside table. He looked pretty much like a human other than his order features.
"I believe your tickets are trying to fly away Madam." The man added.
Re: Re: [Y-Haul 0.1.B Aside] Fever dreams and old memories.
"I... I... Don't have kids..." Brianna muttered as she watched him move and grab the things from her table. She could of sworn all that was there was a half eaten thing of apple sauce, and the cup of ice water she was given to work on. This man was strange and if she was in her right mind she probably would have paged the nurse or something.
"Were they?" She asked as her eyes widened to try to see if what he had was just that, tickets for her. Sure enough she could see the slender slips of paper in his hand, with the corrugated ends for easy tearing and the numbers on the top.
"Did the captain send you?" her voice was confused as she fought to add everything up in her head. Yoshi might have sent this man to... to what? Take her to an amusement park? That couldn't be quite right. After fumbling a bit she finally brushed the hair from her eyes and tried to reach for the tickets.
"Can I see them?"
Re: Re: [Y-Haul 0.1.B Aside] Fever dreams and old memories.
"Indeed, see?" The man replied as he held the tickets to where she could see them. "now now Madam, just sit and hold on tight."
His tall and thin form was most certainly strange. Looked a tad unnatural...yet everything was proportional. The man pocketed the tickets as he moved back to the front of the bed and reached for one of the rails within the foot board.
"Please keep all limbs within the bed at all times!" The man instructed as he pulled the rail down as if it was a lever!
The bed would shift about as the man merely took a seat upon the top of the foot board with that smile remaining as he looked to her over his rounded shoulder. The bed's appearance took on the look of a cart in which the sides were raised up. The seats remained what the hospital bed was with the blanket as well. On the sides of this dark grey cart in big bold letters was 'Tesla's Wondertorium' in the color of red and outlined in orange.
"Depends on which Captain you are looking for!" He said with flare in his voice. "Captain Starburst? Captain Nephia? Or Captain Hammy? They'll all be performing at the park today. Are you ready?"
Re: Re: [Y-Haul 0.1.B Aside] Fever dreams and old memories.
As she watched her bed form into a wagon before her eyes, Brianna tried to get out, 'Captain Yoshi,' but what she got out what "Captonohhhh!." Her fingers dug deeply into the bedding with her good hand as she tried to lean forward against the momentum the wagon picked up. Colors started to form streaking blury lights out of the corners of her eyes.
"Where.... Where... are we going." She cried out as she thought she was flying forward on some sort of roller coaster. As the world woooshed past her bed wagon, Brianna gripped tightly and felt the first what she could have sworn was fresh air blowing in her face.
"Attention span of a dog you seem to hold but no worries!" The man replied as he merely spun round to face her. "Tesla's Wondertoruim of course!"
The way she said Captain made him chuckle. Though the blurring of the world would soon become too much for her to process. Causing her vision to go black before sounds of other children came to her ears, laugher and excited screams. Various adults and even some robotic sounding voices would enter her ears. Opening her eyes, the world seemed...much bigger than her. Large attractions were all around, the roller coaster zoomed by up on the ceiling by the anti gravity sensors. Animatronic characers were entertaining children who were passing by and there was even a food court off to her left.
"Have a Teslastic day." a robotic voice would say rather close by.
If Brianna looked, she would see a truly recognizable thing. Her parents just a few steps away.
Re: Re: [Y-Haul 0.1.B Aside] Fever dreams and old memories.
Once they opened, Brianna's eyes took in the whole world around her. It was a far cry from the hospital room she had just been in. The smells and sounds around her filled her with the same joy she had when she was a child and came here with her family. Years ago when things had been different for her.
With her head panning around excitedly she took noticed of her parents, as if the thought of them was enough to draw them near her. With a bit of self-consciousness she drooped in the wagon seat, as much as she could so her folk's couldn't see her missing limbs. They had warned her, as she packed to head out to be part of a cargo transport crew, that it would dangerous, and how she should rethink her plans. Of coarse they were supportive of her choices and where she was now going, but they had worried and fretted sending their now daughter out into the universe.
Re: Re: [Y-Haul 0.1.B Aside] Fever dreams and old memories.
The man was gone from the wagon and Brianna would find that the wagon that had been their hospital bed was merely one of those rides where the thing moved back and forth at a steady pace. It was just that, a silly little wagon that had a fake engine designed in the back to make kids think it would go super fast. Her father was the first to notice her and they smiled.
"Come on, we got the ticket situation settled. We can finally gain access to the other areas of the park." Her father said as he started to walk over to her.
She'd find that he seemed much taller...like everything else here. It was all bigger than her. That is, she'd feel a cold sensation against 'missing' knee. Fever dreams were weird but this seemed to be a more positive weird. To Brianna, her lost limbs were there but they see through for her. Her father offered to help her out and to her further shock possibly. Was the mere fact she was shrunk to the size of a child.
Welp...time to experience a fever dream as a midget.
Re: Re: [Y-Haul 0.1.B Aside] Fever dreams and old memories.
Even more confused Brianna got up out of the bed wagon ride, and started walking over to her father. It was strange looking up at him from such a vantage point. It had been a very long time since she had view the world from this height.
Looking down at her transparent limb she had noticed her hospital gown was now a summer dress with sunflowers on it. She grinned and giggled with glee as she pressed it down over her legs. "Ok Daddy, but what is all in the other areas?" She asked as she held her hand out to take her dad's. The memories of being in the hospital bed were fading back into the fog of her meds.
A smile was on her father's face as he took her hand and the two walked to rejoin her mother. The sounds of the park only seemed to be louder, as if she was truly back in this place that seemed to have a glow to it from the metal floor.
"Oh lots of things. Rides and games that you'll be able to reach. OH! I heard they got a new robot that tells stories rather well." Her father said with a smile.
"Dear are we really going to take her to see that?" Her mother questioned, causing her father to look at her.
"What's wrong with story time? Stories are great."
"The stories are fine but..what if the thing is unstable?" her father raised a brow at his wife, clearly restraining from a debate with her.
"Alright Sunshine, your choice." the man would attempt to pick her up and place her on his shoulders. "What would you like to do? Games, rides, or story time?"
Re: Re: [Y-Haul 0.1.B Aside] Fever dreams and old memories.
She watched the play between her parents as she excitedly walked towards the new areas. As she was swung up into her dad's shoulders. I don't mind stories, I like them, and I like rides and games. Can we do both?" Brianna asked as she held on tightly to her father's head. "Or do we only have a little bit of time?"
It was such a great day, the big open space and the air moving from everyone around them, caused a huge grin. It was far better then school and home. Though for a brief moment she looked around to see if the strange man had also been on the kid ride.
Re: Re: [Y-Haul 0.1.B Aside] Fever dreams and old memories.
The kid ride was currently occupied by a different child with their sibling in tow; as they were both small enough to fit. However no mysterious man was sitting on the front end anymore. The parents of the two children were trying to keep them calm long enough to start the ride for them. No one else sadly.
"We'll eventually do everything, Sunshine." her father said. "However we can't do them all that the same time sadly. I don't think our story telling friend will be able to convey his words good enough for us all to hear over screaming."
"How about we do the rides first? That way you can have fun with those and give yourself some time to rest from the rides in order to eat something and play games?" Her mother suggested.
"Honey, we aren't going to put her to sleep with the stories."
Her mother gave her father a look of 'seriously' before she gave a sigh. Shaking her head. She loved the man....but at times, he could be a bit like a kid himself. However a static like voice would reach Briana's ears as they started to walk past a group of kids near a booth that had a rather simple child game of throwing a ring and trying to get it to be caught on the bottle.
"Good tidings, Good tidings young Getlemen and Ladies!" The static voice filled with energy said as she would catch sight of that chocolate brown coat and the tall thin form of the man, his round shoulders sticking out. "I am grateful for your attendance, I hope to honor your desire to hear tales with good ones. Now do we have everyone? I believe there's room for one more young Sir or Madam in my audience."
Re: Re: [Y-Haul 0.1.B Aside] Fever dreams and old memories.
With a bit of disappointment, Brianna gave up looking for him and started looking at all of the games that they were walking by. The ring toss had caught her eye for a few moments as she thought about how hard it might be, until she hear the voice again. The Strange man! She quickly slid down her dad's back and raced ahead to see if it was the same person or if the strange voice was used by someone else.
As she pushed ahead through the light crowd she squeezed and wiggled to get up towards the front of the audience. She could hear him calling for one more bouncing and waving her arms, Brianna tried to get his attention.
Re: Re: [Y-Haul 0.1.B Aside] Fever dreams and old memories.
Her father had been stunned when she slid down and he was about to ask what was wrong when she took off. Of course, her parents followed after her. Trying to keep her in their sight as she went into a crowd. Finding her way up to the front, she'd see it was him. He looked the same with nothing really different to him. He was still just as tall as he was before, now standing up straight. There was a park employee standing to the right of them, holding a neutral expression which showed against his happier one. Course his mix matched eyes blinked as he caught sight of the bouncing form.
"Hello, young Miss." The man responded with his static like voice as he bent his knees to be more on her eye level to not scare her. "Would you like to join us for a story or two?"
"There you are sunshine, I guess you really wanted to hear some stories." Her father said as he let out a sigh of relief.
"Sir, Madam. May I see your tickets?" The employee asked, in which case her father would produce the corrected tickets. "Very well, we need your permission as well for her to attend this."
"Why is that?" her mother questioned with a suspicious tone.
"usually when parents have their children listen to....3's stories, their parents are going to enjoy their own rides that they can't take children on. Thus they will often be left with him for different amounts of time." the employee responded, which caused her mother to bend down and have Brianna look at her.
"Yes yes!" Brianna responded to the strange before waiting for her folk's to show the tickets and everything. She wanted to know more about this man, she couldn't put a finger on it, but she knew he was important. Paying attention to what was being said she thought about her folks leaving her alone here, and while it didn't scare her she was worried her mother was going to be upset if she wanted to stay and listen.
"Yes please... I want to hear the stories and then the big rolly coaster." She pointed back at the rides at the huge roller coaster that towered above the park. It was differently bigger then her wee frame would allow her to get on. "And then Ice Cream!"
Re: Re: [Y-Haul 0.1.B Aside] Fever dreams and old memories.
Her mother took a deep breathe, about ready to speak when her husband's hand landed upon her shoulder. It seemed like a non verbal conversation went on before her mother spoke up again.
"Very well. We'll be back in a hour to check on you." her mother said before kissing her on the forehead. "We'll see about that roller coaster when it's time. Behave yourself."
With permission given, the employee handed the tickets back and a group of ten children would end up following the tall man. Of course a employee was still with him, making sure no child strayed from the group as they walked through the shinning park.
"What stories does everyone like? What are you each in the mood for?" The man asked as he looked over his shoulder at the youngsters.
"Space Pirates!" A boy shouted with a few others agreeing.
"I wanna hear about dragons." a different child spoke up.
"Those are both boring though..." A little girl commented.
"Now now, no need to argue. I'm sure I can come up with something for you each to enjoy." The man urged calmly, though he did look concerned when the children had started to disagree.
Soon they came to a room that had various things any child would want, some toys to play with and even some data pads that had stories in them just in case they weren't interested. The floor was soft. Stable to allow them to walk on it but nice and squishy to sit on. The man put his hands onto a chair and hoisted himself up as if he was a frog; his long legs looking funny as he stuck them out like one. The employee that had accompanied them on their trip here had entered as well. Closing the door and taking a seat at the other side of the room.
"Bathrooms are to the right over here." The employee explained. "Children this is Th..."
"I'm Wheatly! Pleasure to meet all of you!" The man interuppted. "I shall be your host for the day, and are your names?"
Brianna would notice the employee holding their tongue from the man's interruption. They pulled out a data pad even and seemed to be typing something down.
"I'm Wheatly! Pleasure to meet all of you!" The man interuppted. "I shall be your host for the day, and are your names?"
Brianna would notice the employee holding their tongue from the man's interruption. They pulled out a data pad even and seemed to be typing something down.
Re: Re: [Y-Haul 0.1.B Aside] Fever dreams and old memories.
Nodding thanks to her mother, Brianna followed the rest of the kids into the room. It was really cool, she though and she lightly bounced on the floor. Watching the Strange man almost leap over the chair caught her attention back to him. she moved up front and sat down just as he interrupted the other employees. She watched as they typed on their data pads, must have been counts on the kids there. She shrugged and looked back to the story teller.
Under her breath she whispered, "A princess story." She had hoped out loud as her mind raced with thoughts of what stories the man might tell. Space pirates and dragons were really cool and she didn't understand why anyone would think it boring. She though always loved strange things.
"Wheatly...." The employee began. "I think it's time for you to entertain the children."
Wheatly looked to the employee with his red eye before lightly sticking out his tongue as he stood up on the chair.
"Come now, we will get to the fun in all good time." Whealty said as he towered over the other adult but not in a threatening way. "My audience of the day deserves to have a say in what they hear."
COurse he slid down to sit awkwardly in his chair as Brianna whispered. His gaze going down to her with a gentle smile as if giving a yes. The man seemed to think as his hand slid toward something black sticking out of the left side of his neck. If she watched carefully enough, it seemed...to turn? How could he just turn that? Whealty's eyes widened for a moment before he seemed to change...the tall and thin man was replaced by a canine wearing a suit of armor. He resembled a german shepard in size and color.
"I am Sir Barkovold, and do I have a tale to tell thee!" The dog spoke with the wag of his tail.
"How'd he do that?" One of the older children questioned.
"They are a robot that is capable of changing forms depending on what stories is choosen." the employee simply stated.
Laughing with surprise Brianna clapped, not even thinking about how she could at the moment. It was magic. Just like she had seen on the vid shows she sometimes would watch. Or straight out of a book her dad would read to her before bed.
She couldn't care about the hows or why though, it was all just so exciting to her. Here she was at the amusement park getting to see the robot man Wheatly, or now a Robodog named Sir Barkovold, sit in a chair and tell her a story. It couldn't even fathom her why her mom would think she was going to be bored of something so awesome.
Settling herself into a cross-legged position she leaned forward, propping her chin on her fists while her elbows supported themselves on her knees. She was going to pay attention so that she could tell the story to her friends back at home.
The other children were either stunned or more interested in the story now. Sir Barkvold jumped down from the chair as he stood proud. After all, every Princess story needed a knight but why did it have to be a love interest? A loyal comrade would do just fine! And what was more loyal than a dog?! The employee jotted several more things down on their datapad as the canine finally began his story.
Many ages ago, there lived a Princess in her father's castle. She was well liked throughout the land and while she was pretty, she never really flaunted it. She was modest and caring, doing what she could to help the kingdom in her own small thing. One thing however, had her concern. Above the land that was their's, amongst the clouds high up in the sky. Lived a dragon! The creature came every winter for tribute, wanting more and more of the kingdom's food to where it seemed the people would have nothing. The princess talked amongst her friends for advice on how to help her people.
"We can only do what we can, perhaps seek aid from the Eastern Kingdoms for more food?" The toad Sir Wartson replied.
Now you may be wondering, what did Sir Barkovold think? Well he wasn't fond of that idea. A kingdom deserves to stand strong and a kingdom stands only as strong as it's people can. And so, he suggested that the dragon should be convinced to move to a warmer place with more food. The princess agreed.
So far everyone seemed entertained by the story. OF course, Sir Barkovold was waiting to see if the one who requested it was still enjoying it.
Re: Re: [Y-Haul 0.1.B Aside] Fever dreams and old memories.
Her green eyes were locked on Sir Barkovold as he told the story. It had both a Princess and a Dragon. This was going to be a great story. Brianna closed her eyes for brief moments to imagine the scenes before her. The Dragon lording from above the clouds themselves, and the Princess standing on one of the towers of her family's castle. She took a deep breath and let it out slowly as she imagined the dragon spewing fire across the sky, and the people of the Princess's kingdom worrying and looking to her for answers and solutions.
Her eyes opened for a moment before they closed again seeing the Princess in a large banquette hall in the castle surrounded with friends. The dog in armor speaking up over the rest to give his sage advise. She smiled brightly as her eyes opened again to take in the next segment of the story.
What I didn't know was that she decided to confront the dragon herself! A brave action but a dangerous one. The Dragon listened to her pleading to him, begging for him to spare the Kingdom she treasured. The brute didn't listen. He laughed as a smog of smoke left his massive jaws and he boasted.
"I get free food for all winter!! I shall not leave when I am doing well for myself!" The dragon boated as he towered above her. "For your insolence, I shall take you for my first meal of this cold season!!"
The cries of the princess was what caused my ears to stand up and my fur to bristle. I hadn't know yet that the dragon was taking her but I rushed to her aid, only to come upon the over sized lizard as he flew away with my friend in his scaley clutches.
Despite the armor being over his fur, one could see his tail puffing up. He stood tall before he began pacing. Carrying on with the story.
What could I do though? Against such a massive beast? I am loyal and I must help the Princess, but how could I do anything against it? My claws aren't sharp to even put scratches into those scales. My teeth unable to tear a single scale off. It was quite a predicament, a troublesome part of the puzzle. I didn't have many ideas but I was sworn to aiding her if she ever needed me. So I took my armor and started to give chase.
To reach the clouds, I would consult the Witches and the Ravens. A quest to find the Feather of Nevar's Grace. The only way to grant a wingless creature the ability to fly and soar through the skies as if they were a bird. But this fabled item, rested in the clutches of the troll Markthon. While he was greedy for items of all sorts, he left the Kingdom be in peace. His wart covered fingers only seeked to grasp upon the rarest and magical of items. So I had a new task, to find the Feather within Markthon's cave. Deep within the mountain that lost it's peak.
The employee had continued to type throughout the whole thing. However they pulled themselves off to the side as they pressed something to their ear. Talking in low whispers through the device.
Re: Re: [Y-Haul 0.1.B Aside] Fever dreams and old memories.
Leaning forward as she listened, Brianna gasped when the story took it's first turn. The princess was kidnapped, and the pupper knight had no recourse! How will he rescue her? Brianna's imagination was trying to come up with a possible solution, when she learned about the feather to fly up to the dragon. She smile thinking of the dog flying about like a bird. Would his legs flap like wings? She wasn't sure.
When the troll was brought up she looked a little frightened, not that she was scared, but the troll might eat the dog or worse! She hoped he would be able to out smart the greedy troll. She knew that being greedy wasn't a good way to be, and if one was greedy they probably didn't have many friends.
Re: Re: [Y-Haul 0.1.B Aside] Fever dreams and old memories.
The peakless mountain rested at the edge of the kingdom, within a ash filled land where nothing grew. It was a easy place for a troll to hide. After all, who goes to a land filled with only acres of ash covered ground, black trees twisted out of the ground. Going through such a land was the easy part however! Not even the vultures would fly over here to look for food. The mouth of the entrance to the troll's den glowed fiercely and a strong heat flooded out.
Now it's hard to tolerate a great deal of heat in a suit of armor, imagine how much hotter that is with a coat of fur! Doing my best to ignore the heat, I proceeded onward into the mountain. The interior was brightly lite as various jars and baskets hung from the cliffs within, crates and chests sitting upon the rock floor. I didn't have time to search every one of these things! Thankfully our troll wasn't home at the moment, now I will admit. It's rude to have just let myself in but time is precious.
Indeed, time was precious. However there was a knock at the door that caused the being to stop his story. The employee headed over there and opened the door. A few words were exchanged and the parents of a few of the children had apparantly come for them. Thus the group of kids went down by three. A paw was raised and waved about.
"Bye bye!! Thank you for attending!" Sir Barkovold said. "now...where was I?"
Re: Re: [Y-Haul 0.1.B Aside] Fever dreams and old memories.
She was so absorbed with the story that for a few seconds she sat there blinking at his pause in the story. looking over her shoulder she was worried that her folks were back to pick her up too, but when she realized it wasn't them she turned back to the storyteller.
"You had just went into the Troll's home, and I think started rummaging through his chests to find the feather." Brianna spoke up quietly. Almost shyly. The story had her enraptured, and she must know if Sir Barkovold saves the Princess or not.
Re: Re: [Y-Haul 0.1.B Aside] Fever dreams and old memories.
"AH yes!!" Sir Barkovold replied as if the little bit of information helped him to get back on track.
Searching the chests deeper within, I wasn't having any luck. The Witches hadn't said of any special way to find the feather. I found potions, enchanted items, and even a squeaky ball that seemed to make the ground shake! That was a hard item to ignore...kind of wish I had it. Oh well!! Back to the feather! Now my nose is useful but without a scent to have followed, I can't track.
Each chest I searched held different things as I struggled. As I opened the two hundredth chest; it felt like it at this point. I wasn't so sure that my information was right. Had the big troll lost the feather? It's possible considering how big his hands were. The dainty thing could've slipped without his noticing. Suddenly the ground started to shake and I had thought it might've been that squeaky ball.
"Who has disturbed my treasure?!!" A loud voice bellowed.
Welp it wasn't the squeaky ball...sadly. Ducking behind a chest, my gaze landed upon the large troll. His green skin and non existing hair. The being didn't see me at the least as they walked further into their home. I had to find that feather and find it fast, my time crunch became even more important. My armor can protect me and while I can damage the troll Markthon with my teeth or claws, alas there is no reason to cause a unnecessary fight.
