Re: [Y-Haul 0.1] I haul, You haul, We all haul for fuck’s sake
As the movie played out, Brianna had trouble following the story line. She sat there cuddled up close to Ori and drinking her so called soda. Her head was a bit spiny and she felt that if she moved her head the whole room and Ori would have tracers. Though even with all of this she was enjoying her time with Ori and what she did catch from the movie, made it seem good, she might have to watch it again later. Maybe she'll put it up in engineering while they make the jump in the morning.
As the movie made jokes, she was either a few seconds late with her chuckles, or way too loud and obnoxious. She was toasted and didn't realize it. As things continued on she found herself wrapped around Ori's arm both to snuggle, and in hopes not to fall off of the ship's deck.

Truth be told while Ori was enjoying the movie, as it went on it seemed as if she was missing parts of it. Between times that she blinked it seemed as if a few seconds had passed, and sometimes a different scene would be playing. Scenes in a bank, comedy about an attempted robbing of some grocery store, something about a fair, it began to blur and skip as she blinked, and as she relaxed she was quite aware of what was occurring. She was falling asleep, and given how Brianna was practically holding herself against Ori, she believed that Brianna was too. The last thing she remembered before her eye stopped opening was over-exaggerated masks of some famous people she couldn't quite remember. Her head softly rested against Brianna, the two leaning against one another, and she fell into unconsciousness.
Her dreams were, in quite simple terms, uncertain, for once. There were not nightmares, but they could hardly be described as good or even decent dreams either. Brief, disconnected, and terribly disconcerting images and scenes filling her head. Some riled her stomach and others illicited cold sweat, some drove her to shake and others brought about whimpers. Images and voices, distortions and breaks, her body was asleep but her mind, so separate from reality was left defenseless from the senseless contortions. At first there was no rhyme, no reason, only the shifting nonsense. But, a pattern began to emerge, the riling of her stomach, the bursting of words to her mind, and the feelings that accompanied them. Filthy, unclean, unwashed.
She did not wake up, but she shifted uncomfortably, the faintest whimpers and squirms as she slept.

As Ori drifted off to sleep, Brianna cuddled closer and closer until she was out also. She snored and fidgeted herself but most of her movements were to wrap her arms around Ori and recover from the burnt one's wiggles and kicks. Dreams rolled through the engineer's mind as she snored, one was of meeting Ori in high school, and it being a whole better of an experience, but as the dream went on she felt like something was missing as they left high school and went to college. Like a part of her life was just now gone, a path missing.
Next was a dream of her life if she hadn't become who she was in middle school. There was life as a male through high-school, dropping out of two colleges, marriage and living a lack luster life. As this one played out tears filled her sleeping eyes as she held tightly to Ori.
As the world moved on around them Yoshi had finished her delivery of pork and cabbage fry with noodles, along with a second order of crunchy noodles to put on top. She had finished the first of the trashy novels she had. Hoping that the next port of call would have a good book store near the cargo docks. Or at least a place she could pick up a few more bodice rippers.
They slept through the ending of the movie. It was a quiet night as the two snoozed off the booze they accidentally drank. In the wee morning hours Yoshi found them curled together in a ball of blankets and pillows. Shaking her head she stepped over them and sat down into her flight chair. As quietly as she could the captain brought the ship to life, the decks started to hum and lightly vibrate as the engines ran through their start up sequences.

Ori wasn't sure what eventually woke her, and she wasn't sure at what point she was truly aware of being awake, but even before she was truly aware of anything at all the feeling of unease and nausea rose in her gut, practically punching her as she rose into consciousness. Her hands tightened, unknowingly shifting and gripping at Brianna's arm, as she opened her eye, her breath caught in her throat. What went wrong? Why did her lungs feel so tight? The blankets she had snuggled into over the night suddenly seemed so constraining, like hands and rope that refused to let her go. Her hands shook as she pulled herself slowly to her feet. Her arms felt exposed, and she grabbed another blanket to cover herself before she began to walk off the bridge, quickly heading towards the bathroom. Now was a bad time, she'd hold people up and she knew it, but she couldn't wait, not now.
She was thankful that no one was in the bathroom when she got there, and the door unceremoniously and loudly locked behind her. Her clothes dropped to the floor and she went to one of the shower stalls, scorching water quickly coming from the faucet. It burned, and it hurt, but she could still feel the warmth push through her deadened nerves. It was a hot cleansing, as if it momentarily washed away a level of exaggerated grime that had smothered her. She scrubbed at her flesh vigorously, tough on her normal skin and lighter on her scars, but nothing was spared. It wasn't comfortable, it didn't feel good, she hated how it felt against her back and joints, but she scrubbed relentless.
Her mind had gone into a routine, and she desperately swam in her own thoughts, her breathing holding a tinge of unevenness, as if there was a verge of tears. Not now, not now. She couldn't let herself sink, she couldn't push Brianna away, she had to clean the thoughts, clean the feeling, if only for a short while.

Meanwhile. . . .
It was getting late, the sun having already set, leaving the landing field bathed in darkness, save for where blue and green marker lights denoted landing pads, runways and other lanes important to the moderately busy spaceport. The darkness was sometimes broken by the bright headlamps of a air car, or air truck, or ground vehicle and an occasional landing or launching ship, though at this time, the traffic had quieted down. One such air truck was speeding along the emptier, darker side of the parking field, past dark ships that were here for some time for one reason or another, zipping between landing legs, cargo stacks and tractors and support trucks parked for the night.
The car coasted to a stop, a brief pulse from it's reverse jets killing it's forward momentum as it came to rest near the dark hulk of the transport-tug Asrid. Two women climbed out of the cargo bed at the back of the air car, one a human of average height, the other an Ersetu almost twice as tall as her human companion.
"Thanks for the lift!" the shorter one said cheerfully as the taller one flipped the driver a thick coin in payment for the transport service.
"You two stay safe" replied the driver, who looked like an old farmer, even with a well worn and dusty cowboy hat, replied with a wave before starting off, the air truck rattling on back across the field. The two watched the truck go before turning to the ship and walking over to one of it's forward landing gear, where the taller reached over and flipped open a hidden access panel, exposing a small control pad, into which she tapped in an access code that activated one of the Asrid's boarding elevators.
The small lift slid down the side of the landing leg, hissing with the release of hydraulic pressure as it came to rest on the ground with a muffled thud. The two boarded the small platform, which, with the flip of a lever started grinding back up the landing leg into it's storage bay, forming part of the bay roof where it slotted into place with a clank.
"We're home!" Bubblegum, the ship's pink haired, pink eyed pilot called none to quietly as she climbed out of the access lock, into the ship's lower hold deck, followed by the much taller dark skinned and horned Ersetu engineer, Pike.
Neither of them was expecting a response and did not even bat an eye at not getting one, they just continued on into the ship after locking up the entry lift and made their way to the upper deck and their cabins to drop of packs and bags and some touristy trinkets that had been purchased on their short vacation away from the ship.Well, Bubblegum had bought some touristy trinkets, Pike had picked up some badly needed spare parts for the ship, including a few key components needed for the shoddy piece of work that was the main engine control cluster, a particular thorn in the side of both herself and Brie, the Asrid's second engineer.
"Ohhey, Pike, wanna get in a game of cards before crashing for the night?" Bubblegum asked, poking her head out of her cabin door with a broad grin on her face.
"Maybe, though it is a bit late, isn't it? and we lift in the morning" Pike replied, leaning out of her own open cabin door.
"Bah, who cares, I got fixing for strawberry milkshakes and I wanna have some and get a game or three in before it's all work" Bubblegum answered and Pike's long pointy ears perked up at the mention of the dessert drink.
"You drive a hard bargain. But I accept" the glowing blue haired alien replied with a nod and the two of them headed to the mess.

When Ori had gotten up and raced off, Brianna groaned and rubbed her head. She wasn’t sure if it was the ship or her head that was throbbing. Either way her life was in some sort of hell. Groaning she pulled the blankets over her head and buried herself under the bedding.
Yoshi chuckled, she had seen her wine coolers’ cans laying about in the bridge. Was she upset with the pair, a little. Will she lord it over them for years to come, oh hells yes. But would she forgive them, it had already happened. She was once younge... and well she never had the chance at a drunken one night stand on a bridge... at least not when she was a civilian.
“Wake up, and go get something for your head. Then get back to the jump drive bay and check the circuits out, and lube the slipstream pistons, make sure you get them fully lubed this time. Last time I could hear the pistons grind all the way up here...” Yoshi hid the grin that was fighting to form on her face.
A loud groan followed by a pillow thrown from under the blankets. “Leave me be.... what are you doing in my room anyways.” Brianna sighed as she pulled the blanket from off her head and realized she was still on the bridge. Her body ached as she stood up as she gathered the bedding and slowly left the bridge dumping the bedding in her room. She stumbled along to the bathroom to use the the little Anna room...

Engine room
Pike was up early, as she always was when aboard ship. The dark blue-grey skinned Ersetu seemed to have the unnatural ability to come fully awake at the same instant every morning at 0500. Now she was in engineering, already spending time preparing the ship for lift off, including installing the new replacement parts she had bought and tuning the hyperspace driver and the internal acceleration compensators to help reduce the effects they had been feeling when the main drives were past 60% power. When Brianna eventually got to the engine room, she would find the work she had been send to do already done as well, as part of Pikes going over of the ftl drive systems.
Bridge
Bubblegum on the other hand was not so early a riser. She had an alarm clock, which she hit snooze on quite a few times, before she came too and got up. She slipped into the command deck wearing a blue and orange jumpsuit, with the top half tied off around her waist, a pink and white t-shirt with a picture of some cartoon character on the front and pink fuzzy bunny slippers on her feet. Her pink mass of hair was bundled up into a messy tail and she had a big military style metal coffee mug with IAS Valkyrie and a picture of a warship emblazoned on it.
She narrowed her eyes as she peered over the lip of the mug, which she took a long sip of the steaming mocha within, and looked at the state of the bridge.
"What the blazes happened in here?" she asked as she noted the messy state it was in, all the alcohol cans and some other junk strewn about.

"To put it quite simply the mind is a fickle thing. Something that alters or damages one person may do nothing to another. The exact side effects of what happened to her can't exactly be predicted but we can make a few educated guesses based on what we've seen so far. A strong aversion to her wounds being seen is unavoidable, she shies away from the nurses who change her bandages already, and when it comes to public interaction it may only get worse. There's a lot of work ahead of that girl and it's best said early that no part of this will be easy, there will not be a day where she wakes up unaffected by her past." The voice stopped, and she could feel eyes shifting to her in the bed. The bandages were too tight, and it made it uncomfortable to move. "The focus of rehabilitation in cases like this is not to fix her or to make her pretend that it never happened, insinuating either of these things could damage an already fragile state of mind. What's important once the physical healing and surgery is done, is that she learns how to cope with it, and that she learns how to live with it."
----------------------------
With a firm jerk she shut the shower head off, and she panted with the humid heat of the air that rose off of her. Her scrubbed skin felt a mixture of rawness and purity, a cleanness only achievable through the harsh method she had used. It was freeing, as if many layers of grime had vanished, and now that cooler air touched her flesh, it was as if she had peeled off a skin tight suit. It was reinvigorating, and in a way it made her head clear enough to think. Grabbing a towel she quickly dried off, beginning to slip back into her clothes which she donned loosely before she took towards the door. She was covered, but the clothes felt used and dirty, so she quickly stepped through the halls to her room, locking the door behind her as she stripped and re-adorned herself in a fresh set of clothes. Her room was nice and cool compared to the heat of the shower, even if it was usually hotter than other room in the ship. Her new clothes were fairly standard for her, light legging that let in air paired with a light sweater, though today she lacked a poncho. Her sweater held a small turtleneck, and was a lovely light blue color. It lacked any notably designs or patterns, and like most of her clothes, was quite simply what it was.
Despite its state of being what she wore over the night, underneath the turtleneck was the shirt that Brianna had gifted her, and its comfortable fit allowed her to ignore the unsettling feelings of uncleanliness. She could feel the tinge in her head, the feel that things were just a tad different today. From what she remembered it was like when people could feel that they were a bad day, but unlike others she could feel it with more preciseness, as if she could tell how her own head would respond to the day, regardless of what actually occurred. She shook her head of those feelings as she left her room, striding towards the bridge. It was rude of her to have just stormed off, wasn't it? As she stepped into the bridge she spoke up, eyeing the room for Brianna with her good eye, the other hidden behind a fresh patch. "Hey, Brianna, have you eaten breakfast yet?"
She was only asking because if she didn't make note of it she'd likely go without it, and even on days that she didn't feel like eating she knew how important it was. Her eye shifted, glancing to Bubblegum with a bit of hesitation. "O-Oh! We just watched a movie last night, and fell asleep. Sorry, we uh... Didn't have much time to clean up yet."

"She left to go and recover from her hangover." Yoshi responded to Ori as she worked through a few more of the preflight lists. "I think she was also on her way to the Engines to make sure everything is up to snuff before we take off. Bubbles have you looked over the flight plan for this delivery, we won't be making ground fall this time. just enter the system and release the cargo containers on a coarse that will put it into orbit around their planet." She thought it was an ODD way of delivering shoe strings, but then again she was paid for deliveries not questions.
"Ori please work with Bubbles here to make sure we have a decent flight path once we leave the jump." Yoshi continued to work though her check list and sip her morning coffee and nibble at her English muffins.

Meanwhile in the Lil' Anna's room

Sitting on the toilet, Brianna was fighting the urge to throw up. She had never done well the next day after drinking. And well she had like four drinks last night. Three more then she normally would have even at her worse nights. It took her a bit to recover and not look like she was about to paint the whole of the ship with her guts. But once Brianna got her stomach under-control she cleaned herself up and flushed the toilet before moving to the sink and washing her face.
Once she was at least looking like she wasn't going to die she made her way to the Engines, "Pike?" Brianna grimanced at the sound of her voice, it was far far too loud for her. "I have to lube the pistons... again...."

"Yeah, I worked out the base course calculations before Pike and I went on vacation" Bubblegum replied as she slipped into the pilot's seat, setting her coffee mug into a cupholder, then started flipping switches to power up her local control systems and computer access. "I'll make final adjustments to our hyperspace exit vector and projectile deployment angle and velocity before we lift" she said as her fingers started dancing over her keyboard, bringing up her navigational plotting files onto her main display.
"Shouldn't take me more than a few minutes to make corrections for a couple weeks of stellar drift" she added and went to it as her flight systems went through their automated startup sequence.

"I'm in here" Pike's voice came from the crawlspace behind the secondary starboard coolant pump.
"Don't worry about that, I've already got all the needed maintenance and parts replacements done this morning" the Kishargal engineer went on. "If you could start pre flight diagnostic level 2 on the main flight guidance and control jet operation computer?"

Ori was satisfied enough with the response to be able to focus on work, there was no mention of any real negative response from Brianna, aside from the effects of alcohol- Though she was ultimately unsure of where such a response came from- that there was no sudden bad blood that she needed to focus on. Though there were rainclouds in the way she could work, and work she would do. She took a seat in one of the additional computer seats, inputting her own information in to give her access to the ships route, and more important its systems. When she had first met the Captain she had been told about the ship trying to accommodate and check systems that were no longer present, and when she checked the ship itself she found that such statements were completely true. The systems would briefly stall and lock while they searched for weapon capacities and cargo that the ship was not equipped with, and her solution was fairly simple, all things considered.
She did not adjust the core systems, especially since Yoshi had specifically requested she respect what it was, instead, she changed what was around it. Quite simply the ship was assuming that all of its systems were connected to something, like tube systems being left open to pour out into nothingness, a waste of energy and computing power, and her solution had been designed around it. Rather than change the basic layout of the checks and specifications, she changed the connections, giving dead ends and work arounds as needed, streamlining a process that seriously needed it. One thing she was worried about however was the possibility that not every system had been updated to use the new information. Various navigational systems indeed used the ships weight and specific composition to find exacts and specifics, and with a drop like this it was important to make sure that the ship used accurate data.
It took her a few minutes of working alongside Bubblegum, but the quiet girl eventually found herself quite content with the system. "The ship's data of itself is accurate, so the navigation that involves that will definitely come out right." She spoke to Bubblegum and Yoshi as she flicked through a few different screens. She could feel more expansive diagrams and images flicking through her head, a steady connection being held. "The harness update I made to the systems seem to be fairly solidified since the last update." The harness system of course being what she called the dead ends she put in place, a harness to catch the system when it failed.

"Oh yeah, this old girl has her quirks" Bubblegum replied to Ori, her pink eyes never straying from her display full of navigational data and computations. Her fingertips tapping away at the clicky keyboard and touch panels in front of her, entering numbers and adjusting calculations for their hyperspace course and deployment trajectory. She also was working in a quick hyperspace vector out of the system, too. She had the feeling they might need to make a quick and discreet exit, if their client was wanting them to make such a strange form of delivery.
After a couple more minutes of quiet work at her station, Bubblegum smiled and leaned back in her pilot's seat, stretching her arms over her head and wiggling her fingers. "There we go, course updates finished. We have a hyperspace course that will put us in system with the best possible deployment vector for the cargo module, then get us back into hyperspace before anyone can come snooping about to see what we're up too" she said with a satisfied nod. She glanced at Ori and Yoshi, "I'm ready to lift when you guys are"

The captain of the Asrid looked over the screens that showed her the flight plans and the courses that had been laid out for her ship. Taking a moment to pick her coffee up from the cup holder so that the vibrations and rattles from the ship would spill it, she nodded. “Take her up to orbit. Ori how is the computer doing, are they ready for a jump and the four day cruise?” She took a sip of her coffee and shifted in her chair, she still had to get one of the bearings replaced it squicked a little and the pneumatics were weak from years of crew sitting and bouncing their way across the stars.

“On it boss.” Brianna’s voice was still strained from her hangover, as she replayed, but obediently she made her way around the humming an thumping engines to one of the computer displays. Even if her head was cloudy and pounding in rhythm with the ship’s heart, her fingers knew their jobs. Flying through the systems she started running the diagnostics systems. Each process she went through green light, a few that popped with errors, the main energy bus to the ship’s nonexistent offensive weapons and the like, were quickly bypassed or just flat out overridden. She was greatful fo what Ori had done to make the computers aboard far more error free, but there were still a few bugs and grimlins in the ship’s systems.
Little did she realize in her fight to act like she wasn’t impaired with her hangover, she overridden an error with the main engines plasma electric breaker overload circuit. It appeared on her screen between the ship’s error of it missing weapons, and it’s worry of a weakened shielding system. With out the mil-grade shield the Asrid wouldn’t last long in a fight, but it would be protected from micro-roids and other ship destroying hazards.
The circuit was important because during a jump the power bring siphoned off of the main reactor was shunted through as plasma to the spin wheel drives, there it was converted into raw electricity that powered the jump drives. The circuit in question allowed excess electricity to convert back to plasma and re-injected into the reactor. But beacause it was over ridden leaving the breaker opened, the excess could arc out of the circuit and jump across the unit. No real harm in that unless one was busy working on the control display beside it.

"There's just a few bumps, but nothing major, definitely a step down from the issues prior. All the startup systems are behind us so it should be smooth from here, but it should definitely let us know if there's any anomalies in the system as we move along." She responded to the captain as she did one more check over the computer. "If there's any issues in any part of the ship they'll have to be overridden or altered when they appear but it's not something that you're going to miss." She had set it up to keep making the same alerts that the ship always had in case her new fittings of the system didn't cover everything. With something like this, it was quite simply a matter of adjusting things until they ended up working, and all things considered she believed that another few jobs and she'd have it working fairly consistently.
She leaned back in her seat, a hand idly scratching at the bridge of her nose, where a patch of scar tissue and normal flesh merged into each other. "As long as the engineers think the engine is ready to go, I think we're completely ready."

Bubblegum downed the last of her coffee, slipped the mug into a cup holder, then, wiggling her fingers, grabbed onto the flight controls, locking them into functional position before her. She toggled a few switches and brought the engines out of standby, and up to low power. The transport began to shudder as the rumble of engines grew from the aft.
"Lifting off" she announced casually as she pushed the lever for the repulsors up to power. The Asrid seemed to wobble and bob like it was on the sea, as it lifted from the landing pad, the repulsor field kicking up dirt, dust and other small bits of junk on the ground. As the ship rose, bubblegum pulled back on the control yoke, angling the nose towards the sky, sending a brief moment of disorientation through the ship as the internal compensators and gravity generators adjusted for the change, then she snapped the switches that retracted the landing gear into their storage wells, which moved up with a loud muffled whine and thud.
"Legs in" she announced, moving her right hand to the main drive throttles and inching them forward. The low rumble from the engines grew as she applied power and the ship began to move, accelerating up into the sky, speeding up as she gained altitude. At two thousand feet, she cut the repulsors to standby, then pushed the main drive throttles up to full power. The ship vibrated and rattled and rumbled as it clawed for space, but eventually that died down as the blue sky faded to black and they cleared the atmosphere.
With the ship coming up to high orbital altitude, Bubblegum changed their trajectory and throttled down to a moderate cruising speed.
"Alright, we're in high orbit and ready for planetary exit vector to our proprogrammed course in five minutes, twenty seconds" the pink haired pilot reported.

The same feeling of thrilled and disappointment filled Yoshi, that always came over her as a ship lifted off with her at the command station. The thrill filled her for the extram joy she had for spaceflight and the possibility of adventure. The disappointment was from the sadness that she wasn’t at the helm flying the ship. It had been many a year since she was just a helmswoman. It was rare when she got to pilot a ship any more.
“Very well. Once we hit the jump point take us up to the hyper limit. Ori, how is the old girl feeling today?” The Captain asked with mild concern for her ship. Was she worried the Asrid would fail her, never, she was just always worried about proper care for the closest thing she would probably to a married partner.

Tapping away at her console on her station, Brianna was busy monitoring the power levels between the jump drives and the impulse engines. She had to keep the power levels steadily rising in the hyperdrives, so that they would be ready for the jump, but not letting the power flow into the drives to quickly or they could go into overload and try to jump with out control. There wasn’t much worry about it happening, there was computer overwatch and safety levels that she had to give permissions for the power to climb past them.
Though in a window that was buried behind six others, and muted, was a warning note that would have informed her that the plasma electric breaker overload circuit was starting to get micro arcs flicking over the open bridge.
“Yeah Pike, how was your trip with Beegee? Didn’t hear from you two the whole time you were away.” She chatted away as she let the power levels rise past another safety level.

"Everything looks good on my end, engineering might get different readings though." Ori replied after a moment. The swirling in her chest still rumbled and was yet to fully settle but it was still manageable all things considered. As long as they got in the air with little trouble she could probably hide out in a side room to wait for Brianna, or just return to her own room and relax for a bit. She had just woken up but already she felt like it simply wasn't a day made for her. It wasn't something that would stop her, it never was, it just meant she'd have to bare a bit more than usual.
She shifted in her seat, away from the screen as she considered her options. Water, a cold bottle of water would go good, level her head, maybe quench the burning in her gut. Just a bit longer first, make sure that her readings were right before she ran off to the kitchen. "I hope it all goes well, I picked up some new spices I want to try out for lunch."

"Alright, here we go" Bubblegum said as she angled the ship's nose away from the planet and goosed the throttles up, rocketing them out of orbit. quickly gaining distance from the world as the ship lined up on it's hyperspace vector.
The pink haired pilot watched the numbers scrolling across her display, waiting for them to clear the planet's gravity well, which they did after a few minutes quiet flight.
"Jumping!" she announced as she pulled the sublight drive throttles back to zero, killing thrust from the big engines at the ship's stern, which automatically went into standby mode. She then moved her hand to the hyperspace drive throttle and thumbed the release button on it's side. There was a shudder from aft as the drive came out of it's own standby and began drawing more power from the main reactor.
Double checking to make sure they were properly aligned to their FTL course, Bubblegum pushed the throttle up past the first several ticks on the track. Outside, the stars seemed to flicker and distort and stretch, then a blue-white tunnel of FTL space opened up before them as the ship accelerated away from the planet and the system and the local star cluster at FTL speeds.

The ship sped off away from the stair system with the speed only the power of a jump drive could release. This lasted a whole ten seconds before the whole of the bridge was light up with flashing red lights and the ship slamming back to normal space. Sirens screamed in rhythm with the flashing lights. Something horrific must have happened.

Thirty seconds ago.

“I bet it was, I ended up having to work on all of the little things the Captain...” Brianna never got to finish the sentence. The ship’s jump drive spat the plasma screen through it’s breaker, sadly the breaker was still open and the arc of plasma driven electricity jumped out and hit the consol she was working at. Luckily enough of the arc missed her grounding out on the deck and the computer chassis, the computer and all of the hardware in the consol would have to be replaced. Brianna had been thrown to the left, slamming in to a bulkhead knocking her out. This was a godsend because the bolt of energized plasma had flash vaporized her right arm, and her right leg was chared deeply. Blood and charred flesh hid her right eye.
As Brianna was being thrown the ship went into emergency shutdown, bringing it quickly back in to normal space and discharging all of the power in the jump drives into the vacuum of space. Around the ship the gas used to ‘ground’ the discharge, glowed an strange green and purple as the power charged it’s atoms.

Yoshi quickly started giving out orders, to Bubblegum was the order for a situation update and a their location. To Ori it was to find out why her screens, that would normally give readings from engineering, were blank. And finally she tried to come back to engineering to ask Pike what may have happened back there.

Something went wrong.
Something went wrong and until it went wrong she was given no warnings, no cautionary symbols or notices, as if the system did not find it important to tell her. She set it up to give those warnings, if there was an issue building she should have been informed, but why wasn't she? Why did it just seem to blow? There was only a handful of situations where it could have bypassed her, but none of them made sense, unless-
She was receiving nothing from the engineering deck. No reports, no warnings, nothing, a blank screen that told her nothing. Her heart sank, because it was clear that it was the source. Beforehand there were no warnings, but now it was simply cut off. The most reasonable explanation was that a warning did not reach her because it saw the engineering crew as more important to inform, and the warning either did not trigger correctly, or it was dismissed. But who dismissed it, why had they ignored it?
"Uh, engineering?" Ori called over the comms with a worried tone. "What happened?"

Pike yelped as everything went to hell. The Ersetu engineer clung to the safety railing of her control station as the deck heaved under her feet. Lights flickered as plasma vented and electricity arced across the space. She saw Brianna go tumbling, but had no time to do anything about her at the moment. She yanked off a striped emergency cover panel on her station and slapped all of the switches under it, cutting off everything. Even though the automatic shutoffs were activating, she needed to make sure.
Each switch she threw shut down a system, cut off the hyperspace driver, shut down the sub-light engines, scrammed the fusion reactor, isolated core systems from the main power grid to protect them from overload damage. Another row of switches engaged the emergency battery system, the secondary life support and backup control jets and engines, which all ran isolated from the main system.

Bubblegum was almost tossed out of her seat, only just holding onto the control yoke as she almost tumbled over it into the pilots dashboard. The pilot cursed as she planted herself back into her chair and fought with the controls, trying to steady out the ship, which was tumbling out of control after being dumped out of hyperspace.
"Ahhshiiit!" she growled as she pulled the throttles back, then pushed them back up, then pulled back to zero again. "Mains are out!" she announced and tried the controls again after a moment and sighed as the backup jets kicked in and she started battling to stabilize the stricken shop and tried to hit the breaks.

“Bubbles, use the reaction drives to stabilize the ship and try to find a planet we can make orbit to. Hopefully with in a few days of here.. Yoshi calmly gave her orders as her hands flew across her own consoles trying to get out the bottom of the problems. “Ori please run along to engineering and find why they can’t seem to pick up the phone, and secondly why we were pooped out of the jump...”

As Pike flicked all of the breakers and brought the power core and jump drives to safe mode, Brianna woke. With in the first second she was confused and unsure where she was, the next everything came back, the explosion, the pain. The last thing Ori waned to do was head to Engineering. There was a stone in her gut, an anxiety ridden weight that told her everything had gone wrong and she would be the first to come across it. What if the worst had come to pass, what would she do, could she even help if something had happened? She wordlessly got up from her chair and moved on to exit the Bridge, towards Engineering. She didn't want to do this, she didn't want to be here, she just wanted things to have gone right so they could have moved on and had a normal day. There was dread in her, why hadn't she set it up to tell her what went wrong? It shouldn't be segmented like that, yet it was something she neglected to fix due to the issues of merging it.
She sped-walked through the corridors of the ship, and as she reached engineering, the only thing she could properly hear was the sound of her own heart pounding in her ears, as if the intense flow of blood in her veins was a chorus waiting to screech out in agony at the soonest perceived slight. When the door slid open her heart froze, and there was no sound at all, as if time itself stopped moving to allow her the luxury of feeling that tight emptiness that radiated within her.
Signs of damage, signs of destruction, signs that things had gone wrong. More importantly than the ship, however, she saw Brianna.
She heard two sets of screaming, though she was only partly aware that one was her own. She stumbled forward as she knelt down next to Brianna, a hand covering her own mouth as her other shaking hand reached out towards her shoulder. She was supposed to help, she needed to help. What if she died? What was she supposed to do? How could she help?
Her gaze frantically searched up at Pike, fear in her eye. "Please, call the medic!"

Bridge
"I'm working on it!" Bubblegum hissed between a string of curses as she fought with the controls to steady the tumbling ship and bring it back under control. Her knuckles white as she squeezed the control yolk and swung it back and forth to compensate for the motion of the ship. Slowly she was gaining on it, but it was not easy with how sluggish the ship's control jets were responding.
Engineering
Pike knew Brianna was in agony, but the engineer could not help, she had to get the ship's systems from going out, if the reactor did not spool down properly, it would melt down, if the main grid spiked, it could wipe out life support, etc. She bit her lip hard enough that she could taste blood in her mouth as she forced herself to stick to her task and work on the systems.
Then Ori was there as Pike jumped over the main engineering control panel and started punching commands into her board. "Ori, you need to take care of her" the Ersetu commanded over the drone of straining engine systems.

“I know you are.” Yoshi grinned back to Bubbles, as her fingers flashed across her own controls trying to help Bubblegum. “I think if we open the second hold loading doors we’ll be able to twist us back out of this tumble.” She was leaving the idea for Bee Gee to decide, she was the pilot and the last thing she needed was Yoshi trying to get in the way by trying to help.
Engineering

With both Pike’s work and the ship’s emergency protocols, the reactor was spooling I got down, though there were still arcs flickering around the reactor and jump drive. Each flash lit the whole of the compartment with the brightness of a sun, leaving Ori seeing Brianna in a strobe, writhing on the deck, jumping from point to point in each flash.
The hatch slid open behind Ori with a loud hiss. Stepping through it was an android. “Excuse me Ma’am, I do believe Miss Scott needs assistance.” The android knelt next to both Ori and Brianna while opening a first aid kit. “Please help me hold her still while I give her a pain killer, then we shall see about what is quite the matter.” The droid’s voice sounded regale and almost bored as if it was just checking a young miss’s skinned knee.

Ori needed to take care of her? She sincerely hoped that she wouldn't have to apply medical treatment, as she knew she lacked the extensive ability to do so. Her own medical experiences involved a lot more people treating her than vice versa, and even considering her experience taking care of herself, salves and medicines didn't exactly match with what was needed to help with a vaporized limb. She was at a complete loss of what to do, and she reached for her datapad that connected to the ship to call for assistance, but the door opened and in walked the android medic. She had limited experience with the android, but whatever it knew would have to be enough, it would almost certainly know more than her.
She wasn't sure what to do, how to hold her down or in what way. She placed her datapad down and quickly shifted so she was knelt down in front of Brianna's head, both hands gently holding onto her shoulders to keep her down, her hand notably away from the singed remains of her arm.

The ship’s assistant android continued to work quickly administrating a shot of quick acting narcotic. “Miss Hypatia, please try to speak to her as the pain killers take affect. I shall be attempting to stabilize her long enough to get her the med bay.” His voice continued to remain calm as his hand moved from the FAK, pulling anti-sceptic sprays and pre-greased bandages designed to cover burns. He continued to move efficiently covering the worst of the burns and the stump. Once he covered her he reached back into the kit pulling a bio sensor set out, with out concern for Brianna’s modesty, he cut open her shirt and applied the sensor pads to her chest.
“It’ll take a few moments before we know if she is stable, Miss.”

Bridge
"No, I got it!" Bubblegum hissed as she fought the controls. "Venting the hold's just gonna throw us off more" she added and darted her right hand off the throttles for an instant to jab at her keyboard, inputting a command line before she readjusted thee throttle setting. Her left hand pushed and pulled and twisted the control yoke, and outside the stars seemed to be slowing, the spinning sky starting to end its nauseating twisting and turning and stabilizing out.
Engineering
Pike seemed to slump a little against her panel as the reactor shut down and began to cool. She took a deep breath and finished throwing the switches that would bleed off energy from the reactor and hyperspace driver into backup storage banks for emergency use if the backup generators went out.
She tapped the comm switch and spoke into the pickup on her board. "Bridge, this is engineering, the FTL and main reactor are offline, not sure what happened but had to scram the system to prevent an overload." she reported, then let the comm switch go and turned her attention to the others in the compartment.
"Is she going to be okay?"
